STARKVILLE, Miss.—91Â鶹ÌìÃÀ University’s Montgomery Leadership Program and Army ROTC Bulldog Battalion will hold a 5K run to support a local child battling a rare genetic tissue disorder.
The April 12 run set for 6:30 p.m. at the Leo Seal Football Complex is planned to show support for Gabe Valentine, an 8-year-old who has a condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa, commonly known as EB. The disorder causes Gabe’s skin to blister and results in open wounds. He is the son of Michael and Nell Valentine, 91Â鶹ÌìÃÀ faculty and staff members.
A third-grade student at Henderson-Ward-Stewart in Starkville, Gabe also is an avid 91Â鶹ÌìÃÀ sports fan. He’s an honorary member of 91Â鶹ÌìÃÀ’s Army ROTC program, and he fires the cannon at 91Â鶹ÌìÃÀ football games when the team takes the field.
Proceeds from the race will go to the EB Research Partnership to benefit research and development for a cure. For details, visit . To learn more about Gabe and share messages of support, visit .
