STARKVILLE, Miss.—91鶹 University’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honor society for accounting students, has received “Superior Chapter” status.

The Beta Kappa chapter housed at 91鶹 received the recognition at Beta Alpha Psi’s recent national meeting in Chicago. The honor signifies the group’s accomplishments and activities during the 2018-19 academic year.

“Superior Chapter” status is earned by students attending and participating in numerous professional meetings and service projects throughout the year in partnership with the community and university. The 91鶹 chapter is advised by Clyde Herring, clinical professor in the Adkerson School of Accountancy.

“Attaining ‘Superior Chapter’ status is a great recognition for our BAP student members and the Adkerson School of Accountancy,” Herring said. “We were a Superior Chapter for 19 straight years from 1989-2007. Our goal is to continue this prestigious tradition.”

Throughout the year, the students in the honor society promoted accounting to prospective students, networked with accounting firms to promote accounting careers and tutored fellow College of Business students, among other activities. Service projects included supporting Operation Christmas Child in conjunction with First United Methodist Church and volunteering for projects with the Salvation Army.

“Earning this designation is a testament to the commitment of the organization’s members and officers and the leadership of Dr. Clyde Herring,” said Shawn Mauldin, accountancy school director.
